What each gauge means

  • PMX-Volume — today's platform volume vs a recent average (~100 = typical).
  • PMX-Whale — buy/sell tilt among large wallets (~100 = balanced).
  • PMX-Sentiment — average implied probability across active books (a coarse mood proxy, not a forecast).
  • Category heat — volume in each tagged vertical vs its own 30-day average. Tags match the Polydata screener: Politics, Sports, Crypto, Esports, Geopolitics, Economy, Weather, Culture, Commodities.

Tagged verticals vs full Polymarket nav

PMX category series follow Polydata's market_tags classification — the same nine used by the market screener. Polymarket's homepage tabs go wider (Iran, Tech, AI, Elections, …); those labels are useful for browsing books but are not separate PMX indices until they exist as stable tags in our index. For absolute platform size use State of Polymarket; for large individual fills use whales.

Polydata is research-only — PMX never routes orders. Read more on Polymarket analytics.

PMX FAQ

What is the PMX Index?

A live research pulse of Polymarket activity: how hot platform volume is versus its recent average, how aggressive large wallets look, a sentiment proxy from implied probabilities, and category heat gauges for nine tagged verticals.

Which categories does PMX cover?

Politics, Sports, Crypto, Esports, Geopolitics, Economy, Weather, Culture, and Commodities — the same market_tags used by the Polydata screener. Broader Gamma tabs (Iran, Tech, AI, …) are browsable on the market screener but are not separate PMX series.

What does a value around 100 mean?

Sub-indices are scaled so ~100 is a typical / neutral reading (e.g. volume near its 30-day average, balanced whale buy/sell). Values well below 100 usually mean quieter-than-average conditions for that component.

Is the composite an average of every category?

No. Composite averages only Volume, Whale, and Sentiment. Category gauges are separate heat readouts and are not folded into the headline number.

Is PMX a trading signal?

No. It is a research dashboard. Polydata never executes trades. Pair PMX with whales, stats, and market pages before drawing conclusions.
